Women in Kyali Parish, Mpigi Town Council, have gained the skills to make soap and shampoo as part of efforts to combat poverty and improve household incomes. This initiative followed a hands-on training program organized by the Presidential Advisor on Microfinance, Hon. Amelia Kyambadde.
The women, who enthusiastically participated in the training, have been equipped with the tools and knowledge to start their own small-scale businesses. Dianah Mbabazzi, the NRM Chairperson for Mpigi Town Council, and Musa Mwanje, the Council Spokesperson, commended the women for their dedication and handed them startup kits.
John Kiberu Kyobe, a senior instructor from the government-run Microfinance Support Centre (MTAC), highlighted the significance of such initiatives in empowering both educated and uneducated women to achieve financial independence.
Hon. Amelia Kyambadde provided the women with soap-making equipment and a startup capital of one million shillings. She encouraged them to use the funds wisely to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The women expressed gratitude for the opportunity, vowing to use their new skills to uplift their families and communities. They are now able to produce soap and shampoo, which will help them generate income and reduce household poverty.
