Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Launches Initiative to Mark 112-Years

Kampala, Uganda, Today, July 1st, 2025. Sanjay Rughani, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Bank Uganda, officially launched the exciting new customer initiative "Jaguza ne Standard Bank and Win a Dream Gateway" this morning. The launch event took place at the bank's headquarters, located on Speaker Road in Kampala, and was attended by Mr. Rughani and his senior leadership team.

This significant launch coincides with Standard Bank Group's 112-year celebration of operations worldwide, underscoring the institution's enduring legacy and commitment to the communities it serves. The "Jaguza ne Standard Bank" initiative (where "Jaguza" signifies "Treasure" or "Something Valuable" in Luganda) is designed to reward customers and deepen engagement within the Ugandan market.

"Today marks a proud moment as we launch 'Jaguza ne Standard Bank', an initiative crafted specifically for our valued Ugandan clients," stated Mr. Rughani during the launch ceremony. "As Standard Bank Group celebrates 112 years of providing financial services across the globe, we remain steadfast in our mission to innovate and deliver exceptional value right here in Uganda. 'Jaguza' embodies our promise to offer our customers not just banking, but tangible rewards and opportunities that enrich their lives."

While specific details of the "Win a Dream Gateway" component are to be fully unveiled through campaign channels, it is positioned as a major customer reward scheme. It promises participants the chance to win significant, life-enhancing prizes, aligning with the aspirational "Dream Gateway" theme. The initiative is expected to encompass various customer activities, potentially including transactions, account usage, or participation in specific bank products.

The launch at the Kampala headquarters signifies the strategic importance of this initiative for Standard Bank Uganda. It represents a proactive step in enhancing customer loyalty and providing unique benefits, leveraging the bank's extensive global experience and resources gained over its 112-year history.
