The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has challenged leaders across the country to emulate President Yoweri Museveni by taking personal initiative to supervise the Parish Development Model (PDM) in their respective districts. Tayebwa emphasized the importance of hands-on leadership in ensuring the success of the program, which aims to drive socio-economic transformation at the grassroots level.
Speaking during a meeting with PDM beneficiaries in Rubirizi District, Deputy Speaker Tayebwa noted that President Museveni has consistently emphasized the need for exemplary leadership from all leaders to achieve meaningful development. He urged leaders to be patriotic and deliberate in their efforts to ensure the success of the PDM, which is a key government initiative aimed at lifting households out of poverty.
Tayebwa made these remarks as President Museveni commenced his tour and assessment of the PDM program in the 12 districts of the Ankole Sub-region. The President's visit is part of his ongoing efforts to monitor the implementation of the program and address any challenges faced by beneficiaries.
In addition to discussing the PDM, Deputy Speaker Tayebwa also highlighted government plans to provide assistance to families affected by the 2018 fuel tank explosion in Kyambura Village, Rubirizi District. The tragic incident caused significant loss of life and property, and the government is committed to supporting the affected families as part of its broader efforts to address community needs.
Tayebwa's call for proactive leadership underscores the importance of collective efforts in driving the success of government programs like the PDM, which are designed to improve the livelihoods of Ugandans at the parish level.
