Woman Arrested Over Stabbing Her Husband to Death
Specioza Kayaga, 37, killed her husband Charles Sebulime, 42, all residents of Namuyenje village in Mukono district.
Police in Mukono have arrested a woman who is accused of stabbing her husband to death, leaving her with a 4-year-old boy.
The suspect has been identified as Specioza Kayaga, 37, who killed her husband Charles Sebulime, 42, all residents of Namuyenje village in Nakisunga sub-county in Mukono district.
Patrick Onyango, the police spokesperson in Kampala metropolitan, said the fight broke out when the deceased asked the woman why he drank alcohol in a nearby bar, and she stabbed him with the bottle in the neck, and he died instantly.
“According to the reports, the couple got into a fight after the deceased questioned the suspect about taking beer from a neighbouring bar. The deceased allegedly hit the suspect with a bottle first, prompting her to retaliate with a Nile Special beer bottle, which cut him on the neck. The victim bled to death.”
Onyango added that police visited the scene, evidence collected includes:
A broken Nile Special beer bottle, believed to be the murder weapon, Pieces of broken bottle at the scene,12 empty beer bottles near the doorway of the couple's house, Injuries on the suspect's face and knee
According to the mother of the late Ruth Jamaado, they had been hearing that Kayaga had been torturing the deceased for a long time, including even locking up other men in the presence of her husband, and she said her son had gone to a bar to see why his wife was late, and there the fight started.
“He has not given respect to him and has been teasing him for a long time, and to kill him, he saw that it was late, and he went to a bar to ask her what she was still doing there following his death.”
They say their son’s death has a lot of questions because they say she may not be alone, and they want to see that they get justice, and the woman sets an example to other women.

Ssalongo Kevin Kyeyune, the deceased's brother, said the couple had the 4-year-old boy known as Calvin Muyanja, but attributed the problem to the rampant domestic violence, and asked all couples if they develop any misunderstanding, at least one can leave for the moment or separate, or have someone to share with about their challenges.
Kyeyune said they do not know what to do on how to raise the orphans because the deceased left behind five children, the oldest in his 17 years old. He said the news of his brother's death, someone called him and reached their, he found him in a pool of blood, and I told him that he had committed suicide.
He went on to say that he later tried to get a motorcycle to take him to the hospital, but he was already dead. He said the couple had been fighting for a long time because they had all been boozing.
Some of the orphans, Joseph Mayega and Christine Nakazibw, say their father has been ripped off by their stepmother, who even took the title to the bank to get money to go abroad, but failed due to her weight. And his father died when he was paying off debts.
Nakazibwe said that during the time she stayed with her, she was harassing her. She even imprisoned her, accusing her of stealing money, which forced her to leave her father’s home and go to stay with her sister.
“I know that if I were there now, I would have been dead because she has not loved us, but as we try to talk to our father, he always tells us it will be fine until she kills him.”
Some accused the woman of being a ringleader of the gang that beats people in the village, and asked the concerned authorities to come out and impose strict rules on bars, and to ensure that the woman is prosecuted.
The area councillor and the speaker of Nakisunga Subcounty l John Mpanga Walusimbi, said domestic violence is rampant in this area; however, he attributed the main cause to people drinking excessive alcohol, and this couple has been fighting for a long time, and the residents have not paid attention to them.
Mpanga said people have not paid attention when the wife beats her husband, and says they are liaising with the police to ensure that all bars close at exactly 10 pm, so he asked the owners to see that they always have numbers for the people in charge of security.
The suspect is currently in police custody, as the Investigations are ongoing.
