Goat Theft Ring Busted in Nansana's Bubbaale Village

The suspects are currently detained at Ssanga Police Station as investigations continue into what appears to be an organised theft ring operating in the area. Authorities warn that mob justice will also face legal consequences.

Residents of Bubbaale in Nansana Municipality have apprehended two young men, Robert Katende (30) and Andrew Busingye (20), for allegedly stealing goats in the area. The duo was caught red-handed trying to sell a stolen goat at a local market for UGX 30,000.

The theft came to light when the owner, a local pastor, recognised his goat being paraded for sale. Village chairman Steven Busuulwa intervened to stop angry residents from administering mob justice, sustaining a head injury in the process.

Francis Kisamba, a community leader, expressed frustration over rising theft cases: "Many victims can't afford to replace stolen animals, let alone pursue legal action." Residents are now demanding increased police patrols and proper prosecution of suspects.

Chairman Busuulwa attributed the crimes to unemployed youth seeking quick money, urging young people to embrace lawful income-generating activities.
