Kasese District, Uganda – A joint security operation in Ibuga Village, Kitswamba Sub-county, resulted in the neutralisation of a suspected rebel following an attack on security personnel. The incident occurred yesterday evening between 7 and 8 pm when alert residents reported suspicious activity near Ibuga Prison.
According to eyewitness accounts, a group of individuals carrying laptop bags was seen moving toward the prison facility, prompting community members to alert authorities. The UPDF Quick Response Team engaged the suspects, leading to an exchange of fire.

Kasese Resident Commissioner Lt. Joe Walusimbi verified the operation: "Our forces successfully put one armed suspect out of action while protecting critical infrastructure. The injured officer is receiving medical attention."
Local leaders, including LC3 Chairperson Yofesi Katenene, reported that some suspects fled into Kibale National Park, raising concerns about possible remnants in the area. Residents have appealed for:
