Police in Hima Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning of Bwambale Paul, an 18-year-old herdsman from Ruhita Village, Hima Parish, Kitswamba Sub-county in Kasese District.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 5:00 PM when one of the goats Bwambale was grazing escaped and went to drink water at a community valley dam. Sadly, the goat drowned, and in an attempt to rescue it, Bwambale also drowned.
According to local leaders, Hima Police Commander SP Suzan Nemira Bwire and her team responded swiftly to the scene. However, due to darkness, efforts to retrieve the body on the first day were unsuccessful.On the second day, with the help of local residents, the police managed to recover the body at around 1:30 PM.
In an interview with our reporter, the deceased’s relatives explained that Bwambale lost his life while trying to save the goat from drowning.The Hima Division Police transported the body to Kasese Municipal Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
