Bulambuli, Uganda – A 69-year-old man was brutally murdered by his son in Gombe Village, Masira Subcounty, Bulambuli District, in a shocking incident that has left the community in disbelief.
The victim, Wogunya Wilson, a resident of Gombe Village, was preparing to leave for his garden early in the morning when his son, Madala David, allegedly attacked him with a hand hoe. According to witnesses, David picked up the hoe and chased his father before striking him on the right side of the head near the ear, inflicting a deep, fatal wound. Wilson died instantly.
The deceased’s wife raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to rush to the scene. The enraged community members apprehended David and handed him over to Buginyanya Police Station, where he was later transferred to Bulambuli Police Station for further interrogation.
The District CID Officer, along with the homicide team and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), visited the scene to gather evidence. Witness statements were recorded, and a postmortem examination was conducted before the body was released to relatives for burial.
Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, Rogers Taitika, confirmed the incident, stating that the motive behind the attack remains unclear. “We have the suspect in custody, and investigations are ongoing to establish what led to this tragic event,” Taitika said.
Residents of Gombe Village expressed shock over the incident, describing Wilson as a peaceful man. Neighbours are struggling to comprehend why his son would commit such a violent act.
