Kasese, Uganda – A mob last night lynched a suspected thief in Kizungu Cell, Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality.
Local leaders and residents identified the deceased as Kule Ben, a 24-year-old man, who was allegedly part of a gang terrorizing the area. He was accused of stealing from a businesswoman before being caught by an angry crowd.
Robbery Triggers Mob Justice
The incident occurred a few meters from Kisanga Catholic Church, where the suspects reportedly robbed a businesswoman (name withheld for security reasons) of UGX 150,000 and other valuables.
Salt TV spoke to the victim, who said that after the robbery, residents intervened, leading to a chase. The mob managed to apprehend Kule Ben, while his accomplices escaped with some of her belongings.
Local Leader Condemns Vigilante Justice
Mr. Wakibanahi Fanahasi, the Local Council One (LC1) Chairman of Kizungu Cell, confirmed that the deceased and his gang had been a persistent security threat in the area.
He urged youths to seek lawful employment instead of engaging in crime, warning that mob justice only leads to more loss of life.
