Makindye, Uganda– Local leaders in Makindye Division are facing accusations of coercing residents into contributing money for road construction in the area. Â
Some residents claim they have resorted to dumping rubble on the dilapidated road in protest, expressing frustration over the lack of government intervention. Â
Mutaawe Martin, a community leader, has cautioned residents about the dangers of leaving debris on the road, which has made movement difficult. Â

Isaac Katureebe, a representative of Homeklin—a private entity licensed by KCCA to collect household garbage—explained that some residents mistakenly believe all community projects should be solely funded by the government. Â

Division leaders, including Kansala Erias Nganda and Nagirinya Annet Lubega, have urged residents to monitor those who irresponsibly dump garbage, clogging drainage systems.
