Makindye, Uganda– Local leaders in Makindye Division are facing accusations of coercing residents into contributing money for road construction in the area.
Some residents claim they have resorted to dumping rubble on the dilapidated road in protest, expressing frustration over the lack of government intervention.
Mutaawe Martin, a community leader, has cautioned residents about the dangers of leaving debris on the road, which has made movement difficult.
Isaac Katureebe, a representative of Homeklin—a private entity licensed by KCCA to collect household garbage—explained that some residents mistakenly believe all community projects should be solely funded by the government.
Division leaders, including Kansala Erias Nganda and Nagirinya Annet Lubega, have urged residents to monitor those who irresponsibly dump garbage, clogging drainage systems.
