Ex-Husband Arrested for Brutal Murder of wife in Malaba

Police in Tororo District are investigating a shocking case of murder after a 28-year-old primary school teacher was brutally attacked and killed by her ex-husband in Amagoro B Cell, Malaba Town Council.

The victim, identified as  Nyadoi Angela , a teacher at  Mella Primary School   and resident of Amagoro B Cell , was allegedly hacked to death with a panga by her former husband, Osire Ivan, a resident of Namayingo District . The incident occurred on the morning of  June 1, 2025 , at around 8:00 AM , while the deceased was washing clothes on her verandah.

According to IP Mugwe J Moses , the  Regional Police Spokesperson for Bukedi South Region , preliminary findings indicate that the suspect ambushed the victim, slashing her neck and killing her instantly. The deceased’s current partner,  Lambert, who was inside the house at the time, rushed out upon hearing the struggle and managed to restrain the suspect before neighbors intervened and assaulted him.

Police were alerted, and a team swiftly responded to secure the scene. The Scene of Crime (SOCO) unit documented evidence, while detectives collected exhibits and recorded witness statements. The suspect, Osire Ivan, was arrested and is currently in custody as investigations continue.

Investigations revealed that the deceased had previously been married to the suspect, with whom she had two children. After securing a teaching position at a government school (Mella Primary School), she relocated with her children to Malaba, cutting ties with her ex-husband. Reports indicate that she had begun cohabiting with another man, Lambert , which may have triggered the violent attack.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Tororo Municipal Mortuary  for a postmortem examination.

IP Mugwe J Moses  assured the public that the police are conducting thorough investigations and will provide updates as the case progresses.

"We urge the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands. Domestic disputes should be resolved through lawful means, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served," he stated.

Authorities have condemned the act and called for increased vigilance against gender-based violence in the region.
