ADF Operative Aisha Katushabe Neutralized in Plot to Attack Worshippers at Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine
Uganda’s security forces have successfully intercepted and neutralized Aisha Katushabe, a known operative linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), in a decisive counterterrorism operation. The operation comes after intelligence revealed her involvement in planned attacks, further exposing her deep ties to the rebel group.
Col. Chris Magezi, spokesperson for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), confirmed the development, stating that Katushabe had long been on the security radar due to her active role in ADF activities. “This individual was a threat to national security. We had previously arrested her, but she continued to engage in terrorist plots,” Col. Magezi said.
Investigations revealed that Katushabe’s husband was killed by security forces during an attempted attack on mourners at the vigil of the late Deputy Inspector General of Police, Lt. Gen. Paul Lokech. Additionally, her father was implicated in past bomb plots in Kampala, further solidifying the family’s connection to ADF operations.

The ADF, a rebel group with ties to international terrorist networks, has been responsible for multiple attacks in Uganda and the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Security agencies have intensified operations to dismantle the group’s networks following recent threats.
Col. Magezi commended the joint security teams for their swift action in tracking and neutralizing the suspect before she could execute any attacks. “This operation underscores our commitment to protecting Ugandans from terrorism. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities,” he added.
The successful interception has been hailed as a significant blow to ADF operations in the region. Security agencies continue to pursue other suspected militants as part of broader efforts to eliminate terrorism threats.
