Following days of heavy downpours across the country, Mukono Central Division now faces severe flooding, with roads submerged and property damaged, including homes, drainage systems, and critical infrastructure. The situation has particularly affected the Kyungu-Namanve stretch of the Jinja Highway, where sections of the road have been rendered impassable.  

Security has been heightened in Mwalimu Nagulu Drive, located in Nakawa Division, as police and military officers were deployed in large numbers to provide protection to officials from the Ministry of Lands. This follows tensions over a disputed piece of land where a meeting was held.  

Mityana, Uganda – Communities along the shores of Lake Wamala are grappling with a deepening health crisis as residents in Butebi 1, Mawangala, Busuubizi, Banda, and neighboring villages are forced to drink dirty, unsafe water shared with livestock, sparking outbreaks of waterborne diseases.

Families—many of whom travel long distances—have no option but to draw water from muddy ponds and the lake itself, sources that are visibly contaminated. “We boil this water, but it still makes us sick. We have no choice,” said a resident of Butebi, echoing the desperation felt across the region.

Wakiso District   – Following days of relentless downpour, residents along the   Nakabugo Kigoma Bujuuko road   in Wakiso District are grappling with severe flooding, making transportation nearly impossible and forcing school closures. The   Wakiso Deputy District leadership   has stepped in, mobilizing emergency efforts to assist affected communities.
