More than two people bitten by dogs every day

The residents of Nyendo-Mukungwe are complaining about the presence of dogs in the surrounding villages.

They were rescued by the authorities and more than 100 dogs were killed by the residents. They say the dogs have become dangerous by biting them and eating their animals and they are afraid to send their children to the shops. They asked the authorities to kill them more because there are still many of them. Huzairu Mwanje, a district councilor in Nyendo - Mukungwe division, said his people have been complaining about the dogs and took the matter to the council. He urged the government to put medicines in healthy centres where they can get medicines if they have a problem with DOG bites. Ssavimbi Mukasa, a councillor representing Katwe district, said they have been having a problem with stray dogs. He said the drugs are expensive and it is difficult for the council to buy them to kill dogs. He said even hospitals they knew had medicines for dog bites people would arrive without medicines and asked the government to increase the number of medicines in hospitals Doctor Ssenabulya Peter, a veterinarian who led the operation, said that after the residents complained about the dogs biting them and eating their animals, they went to kill the dogs. He said they were going to become dangerous for the kids who are starting to retire so he came out to deal with them. He said they receive reports of three out of three dog bites every day and 2-3 dog bites per month are between 15-60 people.
