Pr Bugingo and HPMI Mourn Cedric Babu, Offer Prayers for Bereaved Family

In a heartfelt tribute, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries led congregants in prayers for the family of the late Cedric Babu Ndilima, the renowned Ugandan media personality, sports administrator, and political figure who passed away on May 31 after a battle with heart complications. Babu, 46, succumbed to his illness weeks after collapsing during a tennis tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, and being airlifted to Nairobi for treatment

During a special service at Makerere-based House of Prayer Ministries, Pastor Bugingo reflected on Babu’s life and legacy, noting that the deceased had been deeply affected by the recent death of his longtime friend, Rajiv Rupareria. “Cedrick collapsed after hearing the news of Rajiv’s passing. It is unfortunate that within weeks, he too has left us,” Bugingo shared, urging believers to trust in God’s plan during times of grief

The pastor, who recently survived an assassination attempt himself, emphasized the fragility of life and called for unity in supporting Babu’s family. “We pray for strength for his wife, children, and all who loved him.

Bugingo also reminisced about his last moments with Babu at Kololo Independence Grounds during General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 51st Birthday Run in April. The event, themed “Run for Greening Uganda,” brought together prominent figures to champion climate action, a cause Babu passionately supported . “Cedrick was full of life and vision that day. His dedication to Uganda’s progress was unwavering,” Bugingo recalled.

Babu’s death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from across Uganda’s media, sports, and political spheres. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, under whose Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Babu served as Vice Chairman for Kampala, described him as a “nationalist and patriot” whose legacy would endure .

As the nation mourns, Pastor Bugingo’s message resonated with many: “Let us honor Cedric’s memory by living purposefully, just as he did.” Funeral details are expected to be announced soon, with the family pledging a dignified farewell
