Believers Urged to Avoid Judging Others During Easter Prayers

During prayers commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, believers were cautioned against condemning their fellow worshippers due to their weaknesses, as no one is without sin.

Pr. Prof. Simeon Kayiwa of Namirembe Christian Fellowship reminded the faithful who attended this year’s Easter prayers of the dangers of self-righteousness.

Using the example of the people of Galilee, who were quick to stone a woman caught in adultery, Prof. Kayiwa highlighted how such harsh judgment reflects the very reason Jesus came to save humanity. He emphasized that acts of condemnation contradict the mercy Christ brought into the world.

In his sermon, Prof. Kayiwa also reflected deeply on God’s boundless grace, demonstrated through the sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus, who came to redeem humanity despite our sins. However, he noted that worldly laws often provoke anger rather than compassion.

He urged those burdened by guilt and shame to seek repentance instead of attacking others, especially since they themselves have received God’s unmerited blessings.

Prof. Kayiwa further called for humility and self-reflection among believers.

Concluding his message, he acknowledged and praised his fellow clergyman, Pr. Fr. Aloysious Bujjingo, for his impactful Easter sermons. He also prayed for God to strengthen Fr. Bujjingo with health and vitality as he continues his ministry.

The Easter celebrations serve as a reminder of Christ’s victory over sin and death, calling believers to embrace forgiveness, grace, and unity in faith.
