Former Chief Magistrate Transferred

Mubende
Leaders in Mubende District have praised the former Chief Magistrate for the lower courts in the region, Caroline Byakutaaga, for her efforts in combating land grabbers who had been terrorizing residents under the guise of court orders.

The leaders also expressed their gratitude for her service and wished her well as she moves to her new posting in Luwero.

During the farewell ceremony for Byakutaaga, who has been transferred to Luwero, leaders, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) representing the President, commended her for her dedication and hard work. They noted that Mubende had never had a magistrate as committed as Byakutaaga.

The leaders highlighted some of the challenges she faced during her two-year tenure in Mubende, including land disputes and other complex cases.

The RDC stated that Byakutaaga’s departure would be deeply felt, especially given her role in resolving land-related cases and other critical matters.

Residents of Mubende expressed their sadness at her transfer, acknowledging her exceptional work ethic and the positive impact she had made during her time in the district.

In her speech, Byakutaaga reflected on her experience in Mubende, noting that while she initially faced challenges, including fear among residents to bring cases to court, the situation had significantly improved over time.

However, she admitted that the most challenging aspect of her work was dealing with land grabbers, who often manipulated the court system and intimidated both court staff and residents.

Byakutaaga shared that she had faced difficult moments, especially when handling land disputes, as many people were desperate to reclaim their land and often felt frustrated by the legal process.

During the ceremony, Byakutaaga was officially handed over to the Mubende community by her successor, Magistrate Ssajjabbi Norbert Noah, who called for cooperation and support from the residents as he begins his tenure.

The event was attended by local leaders, court staff, and residents, who expressed their gratitude for Byakutaaga’s service and wished her success in her new role.
