Youth Delegates Accuse NRM Secretariat of Sidelining Their Candidate

Nakku’s supporters believe sidelining her in the NRM race would betray the youth agenda.

A section of youth delegates supporting one of the candidates for national female youth MP Fiona Nakku have lashed out at the NRM secretariat, accusing them of planning to sideline their candidate in the race.

These from Buganda and other regions say the petition against their candidate holds no water and have warned to boycot the elections if the system is not put right.

Fiona Nakku contested for Busia district chairperson before being joined by the youth race.

Those petitioning Nakku have laid grounds that she is above the legal 30 years required to stand as per the Youth Council Act.

Under the NRM structure, the age limit for youth is 35 years, although in the general elections, the cut-off is at 30 years.

Nakk's supporters say sidelining her in the NRM race will be a total betrayal of the youth's agenda in the country
