President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has scoffed at western countries saying even without their support the economy of Uganda has continued to grow.

Museveni was speaking today during the Africa Regional Forum on sustainable development conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. 
The Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development has today been opened in Kampala with a call to the continental leaders to put more emphasis on adding value to local materials.


 
 Addressing the forum that has attracted over 2000 delegates from the continent, Museveni scoffed at Western countries that the economy of Uganda has continued to grow even after some stopped their support to Uganda.
 
Museveni implored African Nations to solve their problems using local solutions rather than depending on foreigners.
 
Museveni insisted on his earlier position not to allow foreigners to take Uganda’s minerals unprocessed.
 
The prime minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja, commended the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) for granting Uganda an opportunity to host this continental gathering on the Sustainable Development Goals.
 
Former president of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, urged African Nations to continue working together if the sustainable development goals are to be achieved.
