PRESIDENT MUSEVENI, UN SPECIAL ENVOY DISCUSS REGIONAL MATTERS

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently met with H.E Huang Xia, the United Nations Special Envoy of the Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region, at State House Entebbe.

 

The meeting focused on various regional issues, including the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the upcoming Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) summit. 

The two leaders engaged in in-depth discussions on key regional matters, such as security concerns in the DRC and ongoing peace building efforts across the Great Lakes Region. They also explored strategies to boost development and cooperation among countries in the region. 

President Museveni agreed to host the ROM summit in May 2025, with the exact date to be announced later. The summit will address various regional issues, building on the previous summit hosted by President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, the current Chair of ROM
