Chaos erupted last evening during the NRM Entrepreneurs League elections in Lubaga Division, as rival factions clashed violently, forcing officials to suspend the process.
Good evening. What was supposed to be a peaceful election for the Lubaga NRM Entrepreneurs League leadership turned into a scene of chaos and confusion right here at the division headquarters.
The two main candidates—Deo Kagwa and Abdul Nasser Nyaika—were locked in a bitter contest, but their supporters took the rivalry to another level. Arguments over voter lists quickly escalated into physical confrontations, with women and men exchanging blows.
Eyewitnesses say Nyaika’s camp began blocking suspected Kagwa supporters from entering the venue, sparking outrage. Soon, chairs were flying, and the situation spiraled out of control.

We had no choice but to stop the election. The environment was too hostile. Supporters of Nyaika were pushing people out, and Kagwa’s side retaliated. We’ve postponed the exercise to allow tempers to cool.Â
Despite the suspension, both sides are claiming victory. Nyaika’s supporters declared him the winner prematurely, while Kagwa’s camp insists the voter register was tampered with. The NRM Electoral Commission has ordered a fresh election tomorrow, but tensions remain high.Â
A messy situation indeed. We’ll keep following this story for updates. For now, the NRM leadership is urging calm as Lubaga waits to see if tomorrow’s repeat election will be any smoother.
