Fresh medical information has shed light on the sudden death of Hon. Henry Kittatta Nagwano, the 32-year-old Parish Councilor for Katente Parish in Nakisunga Sub-county, Mukono District, who passed away just hours after being sworn into office on Friday.
According to Brian Kakaire the director of Science High School in Kitega who led the burial preparation revealed that Doctors at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala revealed to them that the deceased suffered severe internal bleeding in multiple vital organs, including the heart, kidneys, lungs, and liver.
The medical team suspects the massive hemorrhage may have been triggered by extreme stress or shock, though the exact cause remains unknown.
Samples were collected from the body for laboratory analysis to determine the precise cause of death.
The development has deepened the shock and grief in Katente Parish and across Nakisunga Sub-county, where the young leader’s untimely demise has left the community in mourning.
According to family members and witnesses, Hon. Kittatta’s health took a sudden turn on Wednesday when he experienced dizziness.
His condition deteriorated sharply on Friday morning as he prepared for his swearing-in ceremony. While dressing, he collapsed and began bleeding profusely from the mouth and nose.
He was first rushed to a nearby health facility, where he received emergency treatment including a drip, before returning to participate in the swearing-in.
Shortly after the ceremony, his condition worsened dramatically, prompting his transfer to Mulago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Family sources have disclosed a troubling incident that reportedly occurred at the family home around the same period. when spirits allegedly attack one of the family member picked up sticks, and assaulted some family members.
The exact link between this chaotic event and Hon. Kittatta’s death is yet to be established, but many residents are demanding a thorough police investigation.
The widow, Robinah Nakamya Kittatta, who had been married to the late councilor for 10 years, described the events as heartbreaking.
“He started feeling dizzy on Wednesday. His condition suddenly got worse just before the swearing-in. While dressing, he collapsed and began bleeding,” she said.
Ssalongo Nagwano John, the father of the deceased, said he received a distress call from his daughter-in-law on Wednesday and rushed to the home.
“I found him unwell. I advised him to go to the hospital, but he reassured me he was fine. What shocked me most was when he suddenly started speaking as if he were about to die. He had just won the councilor seat and had big ambitions. Now he has left behind young children,” he lamented.
Rogers Zziwa Nagwano, the younger brother, spoke of the late councilor’s soaring political ambitions.
“He wanted to rise from councilor all the way to Member of Parliament. He was a very hardworking person who served the community selflessly,” he said.
Brain Kakaire, who is coordinating the burial arrangements, confirmed that the body was retrieved from Mulago Hospital on Saturday and has since been taken to the ancestral home in Namulesa village, Ngogwe Sub-county, Buikwe District, where it is lying at the parental home ahead of burial.
Leaders across the political divide have eulogized Hon. Kittatta, a former teacher who taught History and Luganda at Maradona High School, Nakifuma High School, and Science High School in Kitega.
The Member of Parliament for Mukono South, who met the deceased three weeks ago, praised him for his non-discriminatory approach to leadership, regardless of religion or political affiliation. The NRM Women’s League leader in the Buganda region has called on police to leave no stone unturned in investigating the death.
Mubaraka Ssekikuubo, former LCIII Chairperson of Nakisunga Sub-county, and Mukono District Chairperson Francis Lukooya Mukoome described him as a strong and visionary leader, urging the public to avoid unnecessary speculation.
Fellow councilors expressed fear, noting that this was the second councilor to die under similar circumstances in the area. Some even hinted at considering quitting politics altogether.
In an emotional moment, Stephen Mufuwa, LCIII Chairperson of Nakisunga Sub-county, broke down in tears, claiming the deceased “did not die from any normal sickness but from *ddogo* (witchcraft).” He warned those involved in such practices that he would confront them.
Nalongo Robinah Ssegujja remembered the late councilor as “a humble, respectful, and peaceful young man.”
A Holy Mass led by Rev. Father Tomasi Mbalu from Nkokonjeru Parish urged mourners to trust in God, reminding them that no one knows their appointed time.
Hon. Kittatta, who carried the NRM flag and was widely expected to contest for the position of Sub-county Speaker, is survived by his wife Robinah Nakamya Kittatta and three young children.
As the community prepares for burial, questions linger over the circumstances of his death, with many hoping that ongoing medical tests and a police investigation will bring clarity to this tragic loss.
