Kololo Independence Grounds under tight security for NRM SIG conference.
Kampala – Kololo Independence Grounds have been placed under tight security due to a huge influx of people arriving to participate in the ongoing NRM conference for Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The conference is expected to last for four days.
This conference is anticipated to be attended by over 1,500 NRM leaders, including District Chairpersons, Members of Parliament, party flag bearers, and many others.
The conference will kick off with the election of leaders for the various Special Interest Groups. These groups include the youth, the elderly (elders), veterans, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), workers' representatives, and entrepreneurs, among others. This electoral process is scheduled to begin immediately.
The NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi, stated that the process will involve electing 10 individuals from each committee. These elected representatives will then go on to elect the Members of Parliament who will represent their respective groups, including the Male and Female Youth Representatives, Elderly Representatives, Representatives for Persons with Disabilities, and Workers' Representatives.
