EC Introduces Revised Nomination Guidelines

Wakiso District Electoral Commission unveils revised candidate nomination process for upcoming elections.

WAKISO   – The Wakiso District Electoral Commission has unveiled significant revisions to the candidate nomination process for upcoming elections, with District Electoral Commissioner Tolbert Musinguzi calling for strict adherence to the new guidelines from all political stakeholders.

During a briefing at the district headquarters, Musinguzi emphasised that the changes aim to streamline the electoral process and ensure more balanced representation across Wakiso's 27 sub-counties. He particularly cautioned party leaders and youth representatives against last-minute preparations, stressing the importance of early compliance with the updated requirements.

The revised process requires aspiring candidates to submit complete documentation well in advance of deadlines, including verified financial obligations and position-specific requirements. Musinguzi explained that some electoral positions may be merged or modified to optimise the district's representation structure, urging potential candidates to carefully review these changes before submitting their nominations.

Political parties have been advised to promptly finalise their internal candidate selection processes to accommodate the commission's timeline. The electoral body plans to conduct stakeholder meetings across all sub-counties to clarify the revisions and ensure uniform implementation.

Musinguzi concluded by warning that the commission will enforce strict compliance with the new guidelines, including firm adherence to nomination deadlines. The changes come as part of broader efforts to improve the efficiency and transparency of electoral processes in Wakiso District.
