Fire gutted Hope orphanage Nursery and Primary School in Kasese

Police in the Rwenzori East policing Region in Kasese district is investigating under which circumstances Hope Orphanage Nursery and Primary School gutted fire and left one pupil seriously injured in Nyamwamba West cell Nyamwamba Division of  Kasese Municipality.

SP Nelson Tumushime, the Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident and said police have commenced investigations.

According to SP. Nelson Tumushime Police spokesperson for Rwenzori East Region, the fire gutted a building hosting the dormitory of boys, and the fire was suspected to be caused by an electricity short circuit.

According to local leaders, the incident happened at around 8 pm as the learners were in evening discussions, adding that one pupil was seriously injured but no death was registered.


Subsequently, the local leaders advised proprietors of schools to buy fire extinguishers and to consult technical people for guidance in an attempt to plan for calamities including fire outbreaks.

These notes that several properties including suitcases, clothes, and books have been burnt to ashes following the inferno. 


SP. Nelson Tumushime said police in Rwenzori East Region will move around all schools, and the school will be found without fire extinguishers, the proprietor will be arrested and taken to the courts of Law.
