Wakiso DEO cautioned over schools organising prom parties, and institutions
Frederick Kiyinji Kinobe, the education leader in Wakiso District, has warned parents against neglecting their children’s education under the “New Curriculum”, stating that it requires significant effort.
Speaking about this, Kiyingi has been visiting Balibaseka Secondary School, a government school, specifically for Music, Dance, and Drama activities under this new curriculum, which aims to uncover and develop children’s talents and knowledge.
Kiyingi mentioned that despite the school being government-funded, parents have not contributed financially, which he says is a concern.
He is using this opportunity to caution parents who engage in corrupt practices, such as forcing children into schools, schools organising prom parties, and institutions extorting money from parents under various pretexts—all of which are being monitored.
David Mukasa Baale, the headteacher, spoke about the positive aspects they have observed in this new curriculum.
He requested that the government increase efforts in its implementation, as they (schools) are ready to play their part, including teachers.
Regarding other leaders and parents, Lt. Col. Dr. Kato Damian commended the new education directives and assured that they will cooperate to avoid any complications.
These competitions are held under the theme of “Promoting Talent” and were presided over by Aloysius Matovu Joy, who awarded the winners certificates and other prizes.
