President Museveni to Open Coffee Factory in Ntungamo

Ntungamo, Uganda, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to inaugurate a new coffee factory in Ntungamo District on May 24, 2025, in a move aimed at boosting Uganda’s coffee industry and supporting the government’s Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative. Â
The announcement was made by Mr. Nuwagira Michael Toyota Kaguta, the National Vice Chairman, during an interview with Salt Media. He revealed that the factory was established through the efforts of a dedicated volunteer who sought to create a sustainable market for Ugandan coffee farmers while promoting local economic development. Â
Â
In preparation for the factory’s launch, the organisers have already begun educating farmers from various districts on modern coffee-growing techniques to enhance productivity and quality. This initiative is expected to increase household incomes and strengthen Uganda’s position as a leading coffee exporter. Â
Â
The grand opening will be preceded by a Coffee Marathon, a unique event designed to raise awareness about Uganda’s coffee sector. Attendees will also be treated to a thrilling performance by Tanzania’s superstar, Diamond Platnumz, adding a touch of entertainment to the historic occasion. Â
Â
The establishment of the factory aligns with the government’s Buy Uganda, Build Uganda policy, which encourages local production and consumption. By providing a ready market for coffee farmers, the facility is expected to reduce post-harvest losses, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in the region. Â
