Minister pleased with progress on Mityana-Mubende road

Works and Transport minister Fred Byamukama has carried out an inspection of the ongoing works on the Mityana–Mubende road to asses progress following the 8‑month deadline he gave the contractor, Energo Projext last month.
He commended the contractor for the speed of work and directed that all potholes in the yet‑to‑be‑completed sections of the road be filled to ease movement for motorists.
According to the ministry’s engineer in charge of this road, engineer Stephen Mbaziira, 45 kilometres out of the total 86 are still pending confirming to fix it within the timeline given.
The minister also warned all vandals who have been stealing from the road project that they will be arrested.and prosecuted
Meanwhile, residents of Kasanda–Katosi, on the section of the road that has already been completed, appreciated being relieved of the dust but requested that speed bumps be installed, because the speeding is excessive and dangerous.
The Chairperson of Kasanda District, Fredrick Semuyaba Sembuusi, thanked the government for pushing the contractor, which had been causing great difficulties for residents in terms of travel.
This 86‑kilometre road was supposed to be completed in 2024, but the contractor had requested an additional 2 years, extending the deadline to 2028—a request the government opposed.
The road project was budgeted at 395 billion shillings.
