Hariss International Donates 200 Recycle Bins to Murchison Falls National Park

Hariss International’s dedication to supporting sustainable tourism
practices and promoting proper waste management in Uganda’s most treasured natural
heritage sites.

Masindi, Uganda  – Hariss International, Uganda’s leading foods and
beverage manufacturer, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship
by donating over 200 recycle bins to Murchison Falls National Park. The handover, which
took place on September 25, comes in commemoration of World Tourism Day which will be
celebrated globally on September 27 under the theme “Tourism & Sustainable


Transformation.”
The initiative reflects Hariss International’s dedication to supporting sustainable tourism
practices and promoting proper waste management in Uganda’s most treasured natural
heritage sites. By providing recycle bins, we aim at ensuring that both visitors and park
communities adopt responsible disposal habits, contributing to the conservation of the
park’s ecosystem.
Speaking during the handover, Comfort Ahumuza, PR Coordinator of Hariss International
said:
“Tourism thrives in clean, sustainable environments. As a proudly Ugandan company, we
believe it is our responsibility like all Ugandans to contribute to the preservation of Uganda’s
natural beauty as the Pearl of Africa. These recycle bins are a small but meaningful step
toward ensuring that our national parks remain clean, safe, and attractive to both domestic
and international tourists.”
Officials from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and local community leadership
witnessed the handover, applauding the initiative as a model of how private sector players
can actively contribute to environmental sustainability.
This action forms part of Hariss International’s broader sustainability agenda, which
emphasizes responsible production, recycling, and community engagement. The company
continues to work with stakeholders including the National Environment Management
Authority (NEMA) and the local council authorities to promote proper waste management
and environmental conservation across Uganda.
As Uganda prepares to celebrate World Tourism Day on Saturday 27th September in Arua,
Hariss International’s gesture underscores the crucial role of public-private partnerships in
driving sustainable transformation within the tourism sector with one small act, big impact,
recycle today.
