A shocking act of retaliation unfolded in Namusita Cell, Kakule Sub County, Budaka District, after a jilted lover brutally killed two goats belonging to his former partner. The incident occurred on Sunday, 27th April, and was swiftly investigated by police, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
According to Wilfred Kyapasa, the Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson, the Kibuku Dog Unit, led by Moses Owori, responded quickly to the scene. A trained police dog tracked the suspect’s scent for approximately one kilometre, leading officers to the home of David Mugole, who later confessed to the crime.
Mugole, a former partner of the victim, Irene Gifibo, admitted to killing the goats out of anger after she ended their relationship. He accused her of leaving him for other men and claimed the act was retaliation for her rejection.
“Investigations confirm that David maliciously attacked and killed the goats out of annoyance following the breakup,” stated Kyapasa.
Mugole is currently detained as police finalise their inquiries. The case highlights the dangers of domestic disputes escalating into violence, even against livestock. Authorities have warned the public against taking the law into their own hands, emphasising that such actions will be met with legal consequences.
Residents in the area expressed shock over the incident, calling for peaceful conflict resolution. Meanwhile, Gifibo is left counting her losses as she seeks justice for her animals.
