Uganda is to host the African airline summit which is slated for next year .The summit will attract 52 national African airline companies with the aim of boosting the airline industry.
The summit is to address current challenges affecting the ail line businesses the African continent. this was disclosed by the minister of transport general Katumba Wamala at function where he was receiving the general secretary of the African airlines Abderamenus Bertha who is in the country to inspect Uganda’s airline facility.
Katumba further stated that its very expensive to have an airline industry because its mostly based on service instead profit maximization.
Speaking at the same function Mr.Abaderamenus stated that the t airline business has been grossly affected by the covid era at accost of 10.2 billion dollars and its recovery may take over some times. Assessing the Uganda's situation he projected the airline business may take over seven years to recover.
The head of business operations in African airline Maurine Kahonge also cited the various challenges by the sector especially connecting with west African routes where they have to cross to Europe.
Meanwhile the chief executive officer Jennifer Bamuturaki has expressed confidence to address these challenges over time.
