Uganda’s national football team, the Cranes, have arrived in Morocco for an intensive 11-day training camp to kick-start their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A contingent of 17 locally-based players, led by Delegation Leader Dr Apollo Ahimbisibwe and including head coach Paul Joseph Put and his full technical staff, touched down in North Africa. They will be joined in the coming days by the remaining 13 invited foreign-based players to complete the squad.
The camp is designed to sharpen fitness, strengthen team coordination, and solidify tactical plans for the challenging tournament ahead. As a crucial part of this buildup, the Cranes will play two international friendly matches. They are scheduled to face CAF Champions League participants FAR Rabat on December 13th, followed by a match against Gabon on December 17th.
These games are expected to provide vital match practice and crucial insights into the squad’s readiness for the continental showpiece.
Uganda, returning to AFCON with renewed ambition, has been drawn into a highly competitive Group D. They will open their campaign against Tunisia, before a highly anticipated encounter with CECAFA giants Tanzania, and round off their group fixtures against Nigeria
With their preparations now officially underway, the Cranes will be eager to build cohesion and make a strong impression ahead of their quest for a historic run at AFCON 2025.
