A wave of excitement and relief swept through roadside traders along the Gayaza–Kayunga highway, particularly in Kalagi and Lugazi town, after the Ministry of Works and Transport granted them temporary permission to continue operating within road reserve areas.

The traders, who mainly operate in Kalagi Town, Kyampisi Sub-county in Mukono District, had recently protested eviction orders issued by the Ministry, arguing that they were being unfairly forced out without being allocated alternative working spaces.

Panic has gripped residents of Kikooza Village in Mukono Central Division after several electricity poles deteriorated, leaving dangerously hanging power cables that now pose a serious threat to lives and property.

For months, residents have pleaded with the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) to fix the problem, but their concerns have gone unanswered. The situation has now become critical after one of the electric poles in the area began to rot and lean dangerously, supported only by the wall of a nearby house.

HOIMA, UGANDA – Residents of Bunyoro have enthusiastically participated in a marathon to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the works of Omukama Kabalega, celebrated from the date of his passing.

Kampala Minister, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, has cautioned contractors against mismanaging government funds during the construction of roads under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area program, warning that any misuse would undermine national development and burden Ugandan taxpayers.

Speaking at the commissioning of the 7.8-kilometre Ntenjeru–Bule Road in Mpata, built by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group, Kabanda emphasised that the money being used was borrowed from international lenders and must be repaid promptly.
