A Toyota Hiace van and a boda-boda motorcycle collided in Mukono town, resulting in the death of a UPDF soldier and critical injuries to the boda-boda rider.

Mukono, Uganda – A tragic accident occurred in Mukono town today involving a Toyota Hiace van (commonly known as a "Tureela"), registration number UBR 801B, travelling from Jinja to Kampala, and a boda-boda motorcycle, registration number UDN 368R, carrying two passengers. The collision resulted in the death of a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier and left the boda-boda rider critically injured.

Kasese, Uganda – As the new rainy season approaches, Kasese District is already experiencing devastating natural disasters, with strong storms causing significant damage to homes and crops over the weekend.

In a significant move to bolster national security, the Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC),  Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, held a high-level meeting with Mr. Nyombi Thembo, the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), on Thursday.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a direct order to the UPDF Engineers Brigade to complete the construction of the new Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) headquarters within the next eleven months.
 
The directive came on Thursday during General Kainerugaba's inspection visit to the construction site, where he conducted a firsthand assessment of the ongoing project. Currently, the two main buildings that will form the nerve centre of the nation's defence administration are reported to be nearly 50% complete.
