KAMPALA, UGANDA – A family morning drive turned to tragedy on Monday, March 16, 2026, after a single-vehicle crash on the Entebbe Expressway claimed the lives of three people.
According to a statement from SP Kananura Michael, the Public Relations Officer for the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety, the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 AM at the Impala Interchange.
The crash involved a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number UBG 734S. The driver, identified as Ssenyonjo Bosco, a businessman and resident of Masaka, was traveling with his family towards Entebbe. Preliminary reports indicate that he lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.
The impact was devastating. Three occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, died instantly at the scene. Two other occupants sustained severe injuries.
A team of Traffic Police quickly responded to the scene. Officers rescued the injured victims and rushed them to Grade B Hospital, where they received first aid before being referred to another medical facility for further specialized management.
The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the City Mortuary in Kampala, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted as police commence investigations into the exact cause of the crash.
