Mubende District
Prince David Kintu Wasajja has called for unity and collective efforts among Ugandans to drive development, particularly in the education sector. His remarks came during a fundraising event for the construction of Kalonga Seed Secondary School in Kalonga Sub-county, Mubende District.
The event, attended by local leaders, residents, and dignitaries, aimed to mobilize resources to build the much-needed secondary school in the area. Prince Wasajja, who was the chief guest, emphasized the importance of education in transforming communities and urged the people of Buwekula to remain united in their development efforts.
The community rallied together, contributing generously to the cause. A total of 701 bags of cement, 200 iron sheets, and 5 million shillings were raised during the event. These resources will be used to kickstart the construction of Kalonga Seed Secondary School, which will serve as a vital educational facility for the region.
Prince Wasajja urged the people of Buwekula to avoid division and work together to build their community. He also called on the government to support the initiative by providing additional resources and oversight for the school’s construction.
Fred Tumuwesigye, a local leader and one of the key organizers of the fundraiser, praised the community’s efforts and encouraged residents to take ownership of the project. He emphasized the need for self-reliance, stating that waiting for the government alone would delay progress.
Local leaders highlighted the lack of government-aided secondary schools in Kalonga Sub-county and the broader Buwekula region. This shortage has led to a high dropout rate among students who complete primary education, as many cannot afford to travel long distances to attend secondary schools in other areas.
The construction of Kalonga Seed Secondary School is seen as a critical step in addressing this challenge. Once completed, the school will provide accessible and affordable education to hundreds of students in the region.
While the community has taken the lead in mobilizing resources, leaders appealed to the government to complement their efforts by providing additional funding and infrastructure support. They emphasized that education is a shared responsibility and called for collaboration between the community and the government to ensure the project’s success.
Conclusion
The fundraising event for Kalonga Seed Secondary School marks a significant milestone in the development of education in Mubende District. Prince David Wasajja’s call for unity and self-reliance has inspired the community to take charge of their future, demonstrating the power of collective action in driving progress.
