Leaders from Kakiri Sub County in Wakiso District have intervened to stop the construction of a house being built too close to the road in Magogo Village. The leaders, led by Sub County Chairperson John Bosco Tebandeke, expressed concern over the illegal construction and vowed not to tolerate such actions.
The leaders were on an inspection tour of several roads in the area, including the Namulondo Buzimba Road, Kabagano Kabagezi Road, Magogo Ssentigi Namayumba Road, and Mubango Luwunga Barracks Road, when they discovered the ongoing construction. The builders and the property owner were immediately ordered to halt the construction.
Chairperson John Bosco and Councilor Nakyanzi Annet highlighted the challenges faced by residents due to the poor state of the Kabagano Kabagezi Road, which is often flooded by a nearby river. This has made it difficult for farmers to transport their produce and for children to access schools. Bosco assured residents that the road would be upgraded, but emphasized that the process would be gradual due to the high costs involved.
The leaders acknowledged the limited funds available for road maintenance, with the sub county receiving only 50 million shillings for road works and tree planting. Despite these constraints, they commended the efforts of Engineer Flavia Nakatte, who has been instrumental in overseeing the road construction projects.
Residents expressed their gratitude for the leaders' intervention and the ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure in the area. The leaders pledged to continue working towards addressing the challenges faced by the community, despite the financial limitations.
