Minister for general duties in the office of the prime minister, Justine Kasule Lumumb,a has revealed that the food available for refugee communities in the country can only take for only 3 month,s hence the country looms for a crisis and catastrophe.

Lumumba and other ministers in the office of the prime minister, including Karamoja, northern, and Luweero triangle, are appearing before the presidential affairs committee to defend their ministerial policy statement for the 2025_2026 financial year appropriations.

For the financial year 2025_2026, the office of the prime ministry is projected to have a total budget of 154.508bn, out of which 6.161bn is allocated for wages, 130.267bn non non-wage recurrent, 5.470bn for government development, and 12.208bn for Nusaf 4, DRDIP2, and arrears.

The prime minister has been allocated 16.540, the first deputy prime minister 532m, the second deputy premier 1.504bn, the third deputy premier 432bn, the general duties 1.028bn, government chief whip 2.148bn.

Committee chair Alex Byarugaba says the country is on the verge of disaster if the refugee problem is not given priority.

The general duties minister has also clarified the variance in budgeting, where the first deputy premier, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has been given less budget, confirming that she has a bigger budget in the Ministry of East African Affairs.

Other priority sectors include relief, disaster preparedness and management with 6.550bn, Karamoja affairs 3.188bn, Teso affairs 3.261bn, Luweero-Rwenzori affairs 20.084bn, Busoga affairs 2.977bn, Northern Uganda affairs 3.261bn, Bunyoro affairs 3.188 bn, among others.
