Uganda National Examinations Board Releases 2024 UCE Transitional Exam Results

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the results for the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) Transitional Examination. This examination was conducted under the now-defunct UCE curriculum to accommodate students who either missed the 2023 exams or sought to improve their grades.

      Overview of Candidate Registration
A total of 10,141 candidates from 1,028 examination centers registered for the UCE Transitional Exam. Of these, 4,369 (43.1%) were male, while 5,373 (52.9%) were female. Additionally, 813 students (8.0%) were beneficiaries of the Universal Secondary Education (USE) program, while 8,929 (88.0%) were from non-USE institutions. The overall attendance rate was high, with 96.1% of registered students sitting for the exam. Unfortunately, 399 candidates did not participate.

      Special Needs Candidates
UNEB provided accommodations for 44 candidates with special needs, including individuals who were blind, had low vision, were deaf, dyslexic, or physically handicapped. Among them, only one candidate was absent.

      General Performance Analysis
Performance was categorized into divisions, with the following results:
-   Division 1:   80 students (0.8%)
-   Division 2:   503 students (5.2%)
-   Division 3:   1,710 students (17.6%)
-   Division 4:   5,820 students (59.7%)
-   Division 9 (Fail):   1,629 students (16.7%)

Overall, male students slightly outperformed their female counterparts, particularly in core subjects like Mathematics, Geography, and Science.

      Examination Malpractice
UNEB identified a few cases of malpractice, including impersonation and external assistance. Candidates involved in malpractice will have their results withheld as per UNEB regulations.

      Accessing Results
Results have been uploaded to the UNEB examination center portals, allowing school administrators to download them immediately. Hard copies will not be provided, though schools will be notified if they become available. Parents and students can also access results via SMS by sending   UCE <space> Candidate Index Number   (e.g., U0000/001T) to   6600   on MTN and Airtel networks.

      Submission of Queries
School administrators are advised to review the results carefully and submit any concerns—such as errors in name spellings or dates of birth—through the UNEB portal within   15 working days   of the release date. Late queries may not be addressed.
