President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Ugandans in the Diaspora to invest back home and promote the country as a top tourist destination.
While meeting 25 members of the NRM Diaspora Cadres Initiative from the U.S. at State House Entebbe, the President discussed areas such as structured savings, attracting markets for Ugandan products, promoting tourism, and countering misinformation about Uganda.
The President welcomed investment ideas like low-cost housing near industrial parks, real estate ventures, and cooperative saving schemes.
He emphasized the importance of channeling remittances into productive sectors such as commercial agriculture and tourism. Mr. Brian Kwesiga shared plans to import Ugandan wines to the U.S., while Ms. Brenda Nangasha requested land to build lodges in national parks.
Museveni officially recognized the team as the principal NRM Diaspora Cadres Initiative and encouraged them to help grow Uganda’s image abroad. The team is expected to work with key ministries to implement their proposals and support national development.
