Owek. Nsibirwa Presents Buganda Kingdom Budget To Lukiiko

The First Deputy Katikkiro and Buganda Kingdom Finance Minister, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, is this afternoon reading the Kingdom’s budget for the new financial year before the Buganda Lukiiko at Bulange Mengo.

With members of the Lukiiko, Kingdom ministers, county chiefs (abamasaza), and invited guests in attendance, Owek Nsibirwa is outlining the financial allocations and priorities that will guide the Kingdom’s operations and development programs in the coming year.

Key focus areas in the budget include strengthening the education sector through bursary schemes and school partnerships, boosting youth empowerment through skilling programs, preservation of Buganda's rich cultural heritage, and intensifying efforts in land management and mobilization of internal revenue.

In his speech, Owek Nsibirwa has emphasized transparency, community involvement, and innovation in revenue generation, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to self-sustainability and improved service delivery to its people.

The presentation marks a significant moment in Buganda’s governance calendar, as the Lukiiko will later deliberate on the budget and offer recommendations before its adoption. Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga is also expected to address the house after the reading.

The ongoing session underscores Buganda’s continued efforts toward economic empowerment and cultural resilience amid modern challenges.
