Kiringente Sub County, Wakiso District – A violent storm struck Kyeyitabya Village in the early hours of this morning, destroying homes, crops, and leaving residents in distress. The storm, which brought strong winds and heavy rainfall, also disrupted learning in local schools as students' uniforms and books were ruined by the flooding.
Homes and Farms Destroyed
The storm flattened houses and uprooted crops, leaving many families homeless and without food.
Richard Ssenninde, the LC1 Chairperson of Kyeyitabya, confirmed the destruction, stating:
"The storm was devastating. Roofs were blown off, banana plantations destroyed, and many families have lost everything."
Yusufu Mutyaba, the Youth Councillor for Kiringente SubCounty, called for urgent government intervention:
"We need emergency relief—temporary shelter, food, and seeds for replanting. Our people are suffering."
Students’ Education Disrupted
Several schools in the area were affected, with books and uniforms soaked in floodwaters. Parents fear their children may miss classes until replacements are found.
