Gen Muhoozi, Dep. Speaker Tayebwa Lead Emotional Send-off for Visionary Cedrick Babu

Family, friends, and top government officials gathered to bid farewell to the late Cedrick Babu, a celebrated visionary and sports enthusiast, in a heartfelt send-off ceremony. Among the dignitaries was General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who attended with his wife, Charlotte Kainerugaba, to honor his long-time friend.

Gen Muhoozi praised Babu for his innovative ideas and contributions to Uganda, describing him as a man whose "visionary mindset helped shape the nation’s progress." He expressed deep sorrow at the loss of a close companion and urged Ugandans to emulate Babu’s dedication to national development.
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, representing President Yoweri Museveni, delivered a speech in which the president commended Babu for his immense contributions, particularly in sports. "Cedrick was a man of great values who uplifted Uganda’s sports sector and inspired many," Tayebwa relayed.

Also present was NRM’s National Vice Chairman, Al Hajji Musa Kigongo, a close friend of the deceased, who shared fond memories of their friendship.

During the ceremony, the father of the late Captain Francis Babu made an emotional appeal to the Minister of Sports to support Babu’s three children by covering their school fees until they complete their education. "My son was a pillar for his family; we ask the government to stand with his children in his absence," he pleaded.

The late Cedrick Babu was later laid to rest at his permanent home, surrounded by loved ones who celebrated his life and legacy. His passing leaves a void in Uganda’s sports and development circles, but his impact continues
