Four Killed And One Injured In Road Accidents In Kasese
At least four people have lost their lives and one other was injured after they were involved in two separate accidents in Kasese district.
The first accident happened where two people died on the spot, one died after reaching the hospital, and another one sustained serious injuries, and all four people were on one motorcycle.
The deceased have been identified as Muhindo Brian, 29 years, a resident of Kanyoghonya village, Steven Sunday Kyana and the fourth one is not yet identified.
Speaking to Mr James Mwiruwabo, the In-charge at Kasese Municipal Health Centre III, confirmed that the facility's mortuary was keeping four bodies of persons involved in separate accidents.
According to Masereka Julius, the accident happened at around 10 pm when a speeding a not yet identified vehicle rammed into the motorcycle carrying three passengers and killing three of them and two of whom on the spot.
In another separate related incident at Kahendiro junction in Muhokya Town council, a motorcycle was also involved in a head-on collision with vehicles, which saw one Eria Thembo die on the spot on the same day.
The Rwenzori East Regional CLO, ASP. Mugisa Solomon confirmed the deaths and highlighted the need for users to adhere to road safety guidelines so as to reduce the number of accidents on the road.
He cautioned motorists against overloading and speeding, which he said pose a huge risk to the lives of all road users, including passengers and pedestrians.
