Mutungi Sells Land to Create Sh18m Portrait of His Hero Museveni
If given the chance, I would love to shake his hand and thank him for his service to Uganda
Bwaise, Uganda – In an extraordinary display of admiration, Mutungi Nicholas, popularly known as Jajja Northern, sold his plot of land to fund the creation of a massive portrait of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he describes as his ultimate hero. The portrait, which cost him approximately 18 million Ugandan shillings, stands as a bold testament to his unwavering loyalty.
Jajja Northern, who also goes by the nickname "Omubanda wa Museveni 100%", says his deep respect for the President stems from the peace and stability in Uganda—a freedom that even allows critics to speak out without fear. "The fact that people can abuse the President and he remains silent shows his leadership. That’s why Museveni is my hero," he explained.
His dedication goes beyond just creating the artwork. Every morning, he wakes up early to clean the portrait, polish the shoes depicted on it, and ensure it remains in perfect condition. He even strategically placed it along Bwaise Northern Bypass so that President Museveni can see it whenever he passes by.
Jajja Northern now has one heartfelt request: to meet President Museveni in person. "If given the chance, I would love to shake his hand and thank him for his service to Uganda," he said.
The portrait has already drawn attention from locals and passersby, many of whom stop to take photos. For Jajja Northern, this project is more than just art—it’s a symbol of gratitude and patriotism.
Will his wish to meet the President come true? Only time will tell.
