Floods Wreak Havoc In Kabowa Village

Heavy rainfall that started in the early morning hours has caused panic among residents of Kabowa, Bakaba, and Twaha villages in Lubaga Division, leaving many homes submerged.

Our team visited Kabowa, where residents were seen desperately scooping water out of their flooded homes. Many expressed frustration, saying they now have nothing left after the floods destroyed their property.

"We've lost everything to these floods. All our belongings are ruined."
"We fear disease outbreaks like cholera because of this stagnant, dirty water surrounding our homes."

Some elderly residents accused local leaders of neglecting their pleas for help, claiming their concerns about drainage issues in the area have been ignored for years.

Ahmed Sserwambala, the area defense secretary, showed our crew several collapsed houses. He blamed the flooding on the clogged Nalukolongo channel.

Male Patrick, the Lubaga Division councilor representing the affected residents, assured victims that the matter is being discussed at the division council level for immediate action.

With floodwaters still standing and health risks increasing, residents now anxiously wait for intervention as they face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.
