Minister of Agriculture Frank Tumwebaze, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kibale East in Kamwenge District, has been officially confirmed by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party to contest for flag in the upcoming elections.

 The confirmation ceremony took place at the NRM Electoral Commission offices in Kampala this afternoon, presided over by the Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi.

Minister Tumwebaze brings extensive experience to the race, having represented the people of Kibale East in Parliament continuously since 2006. This marks an impressive 20 years of service, and he is now seeking a fifth term to continue his work for the constituency.

A distinguished alumnus of Makerere University and a former lecturer, Tumwebaze has held several key ministerial positions appointed by President Yoweri Museveni. These have included Minister for Kampala, Minister for Information and Communication Technology, and currently, he serves as the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.

Beyond his ministerial duties, Tumwebaze is actively involved in agriculture, operating a significant coffee farm with approximately 150 acres. He has distributed coffee seedlings to his constituents to boost farming and development in Kibale East. His tenure is marked by tangible contributions, including the construction of hospitals and schools, the provision of clean water projects, and securing substantial government funding for various initiatives. He has also supported numerous students with educational bursaries and empowered women's groups through income-generating projects.

As the election scheduled for July 16th approaches, Tumwebaze is appealing to the voters of Kibale East to renew their trust in him.
