Sugarcane farmers in Masindi district are protesting a decision by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to prevent them from weighing their sugarcane using government-approved scales.

 Led by their chairman, Muhamud Kazimbe, the farmers staged a protest, claiming the ministry's actions are illegal.
Bunyoro region Police spokesman Julius Hakizza stated that the ministry is seeking cooperation to maintain law and order. The commissioner of trade confirmed plans to address the situation and improve conditions for farmers.
