Jonathan Mckinstry arrived at FUFA offices in Mengo today at 10:30 am where he was welcomed by edger Watson the FUFA technical director who introduced him to the acting FUFA president Justus Mugisha in his office.
The new Uganda cranes coach Jonathan Mckinstry form northern Ireland was eventually introduced to the journalists in the press conference by the former Uganda cranes star and the FUFA technical director Edgar Watson. While addressing the media, Suubi revealed that a committee of 5 people led by Zambia's Karushya Bwalya scrutinized various members before the coming to this decision.
Watson further added that Jonathan Mckinstry has signed a 3 years contract, therefore he will be working with those that have been acting as team coaches from which he will select members to work with on the team.
The new crane's coach assured that his main goal is to see Uganda qualify to the world 2022, which is very possible according to him. Jonathan Mckinstry promised Ugandans an interesting game and highlighted the fact that many may despise him because he is only 34, about which he said that age does not matter.
Uganda Cranes has had 26 coaches ever since it started in 1926, therefore Jonathan Mckinstry has become the 27th coach after replacing Sebstain Desabre who left for Egyptian side after the AFCON 2019 exit.
