The Katikkiro advised the government to give priority to the promotion of agriculture and livestock.
The National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) has signed a partnership with the Buganda Kingdom to ensure such research and quality integration the products of these various places are distributed among the people of the Kabaka in the various districts and provinces.
Among the sites visited were the Rice and Cocoa Quality Integration Center at Kituuza in Ntenjeru-Kisoga TC and the Mukono Zonal Agricultural and Development Institute (MUZARDI) at Ntaawo in Mukono municipality.
Dr. A.S. Barbra Zawedde, director of MUZARDI, explained that they are researching the various agricultural and livestock needs of all the districts of Buganda.
The Chief Minister visited the research and standardization center for the indigenous chickens which are bred and distributed to the various people as unlike the ordinary indigenous chickens, these grow in a short period of time and in four months they aim to reach 2.5 kg. half of which will be covered within six months.
He visited the modern vegetable growing area, especially for the urban dwellers in the shallows, as well as the fish farm and distributed to the pond farmers.
Dr. A.S. Zawedde explained that the problem they have encountered is that most of the people who are interested in them do not have land or large plots of land to farm because they live in cities.
Speaking, the Katikkiro expressed his satisfaction with the work being done at MUZARDI and advised the government to focus on such centers as everything is necessary for the development of agriculture and livestock in the country it has.
The Prime Minister said that if Uganda prioritizes its advantages, it will be able to recover economically. He said Uganda is still able to grow and sell its produce abroad and in European countries.
Leaders at various levels including official Mary Namutebi and councilor John Ssebunya spoke about the importance of MUZARDI to the people in the area around it and beyond.
Namutebi said MUZARDI has been conducting training courses for them in shallow and modern farming and providing them with seeds.
Ssebunya, meanwhile, urged the government to set up a college of agriculture and livestock that will help people from Buganda and Uganda to take together by specializing and obtaining diplomas and degrees.
