In a significant move reflecting the Uganda People's Defence Forces' (UPDF) commitment to recognizing excellence and dedication, the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced the promotion of three distinguished officers to the rank of Acting Major General. This promotion is in line with the new establishment and acknowledges their impeccable service records.
The promoted officers are:
1. Brigadier General Charles Byanyima
2. Brigadier General Deus Sande
3. Brigadier General Daniel Kakono
These promotions were officially announced on March 4, 2025, through a press release issued by the Department of Defence Public Information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MoDVA) headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala.
